Flood update

Due to the heavy rainfall from Storms Ciara, Dennis and Jorge, we have seen flooding from rivers across my constituency. Currently, the total number of properties damaged by flooding in both the Forest of Dean District and Tewkesbury Borough areas of the constituency stand at 73.

Policing in Newent

A meeting between residents and police is taking place in Newent today, and while Gloucestershire and the Forest of Dean have low crime levels, a small number of constituents have written to me with separate concerns about policing in Newent, which I have passed on to Gloucestershire Constabulary

LRS factory visit

I was delighted to be invited to aid in the launch of the new high-speed bottle line at the Lucozade Ribena Suntory factory in Coleford this morning.

Meeting with the Chief Constable of Gloucestershire

Fortunately, the Forest of Dean and Gloucestershire have relatively low levels of crime compared to the rest of the country. However, that is not to say that we are without crime and I have recently been contacted by a number of constituents regarding incidents that have caused concern.

Verderers Court visit

I was very pleased to have been invited to attend the Verderers Court recently. Verderers have been located within the Forest of Dean in some shape or form since the 13th Century and continue to play an important community role today.

Road Closure – Beachley Road, Sedbury

Gloucestershire Highways are planning on temporarily closing Beachley Road. The planned start and finish period will be between Friday 10th January to Tuesday 14th January (not including Saturday or Sunday) and will start at 19:00 hours and end at 07:00.


Further to my post this morning, my office has been in touch with Severn Trent who have confirmed that this morning’s traffic was not related to their roadworks, with their infrastructure having been cleared away by Monday morning.

Chepstow bridge update

Yesterday, I met with Monmouth MP, David TC Davies, on Chepstow bridge to discuss the ongoing traffic problem on the A48. We are both clear on the extent of this problem and the effect it is having on both the town and commuters driving through Chepstow, especially in the morning rush hour.

Five Acres Site update

Very pleased to see that the Forest of Dean District Council have been approved to acquire the Five Acres site.
