I am pleased to see that the new Forest of Dean Community Hospital in Cinderford has now fully opened this week. It has modern facilities which means more services can now be provided in the Forest rather than only after a journey to Gloucester or Cheltenham.
The hospital offers en-suite rooms, specialised dentistry, leg wound care, and phototherapy for skin conditions, amongst many other services. As there are now more community beds elsewhere in the County, the NHS is confident it’s got the right number at the new hospital for Forest of Dean residents.
If I’m re-elected as your MP, with a Conservative Government, then we’ll see a new £5.4m primary care centre in Coleford, having recently got planning permission, and a new primary care centre in Lydney. The plans for this are currently being developed by our local NHS team.
Finally, in the many conversations I had with local NHS leaders whilst your MP, I know they would like to see the former hospital sites at the Dilke and in Lydney used for a health and/or social care purpose if at all possible. So if anyone has any plans which would make this possible I know they’ll receive a fair hearing from the NHS.
