In July, the Chancellor Rishi Sunak set out a comprehensive plan to support the economy, protect jobs and incomes, and build a greener society.
On top of an historic investment in infrastructure, the Chancellor announced a new £2 billion Green Homes Grant scheme to support job creation in every corner of the UK.
From the end of September, homeowners and landlords will be able to apply for vouchers to make their homes more energy efficient and employ local tradespeople to carry out the work.
The grants will cover at least two-thirds of the cost of qualifying energy efficiency or low carbon heating improvements to your home – up to a maximum value of £5,000 per household.
For low-income households the Treasury will go even further, with vouchers covering the full cost of the improvements, up to £10,000.
Improvements could include insulating walls, floors and roofs, installing double or triple glazing when replacing single glazing, and installing low-carbon heating.
You must make sure the work is scheduled to be completed, and the voucher redeemed subject to its terms and conditions, by 31 March 2021.
The Green Homes Grant scheme is a great opportunity to help save money on your energy bills, protect local jobs and support our transition to net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
