Today is #SmallBusinessSaturday, a celebration of the small and medium sized businesses we have right here across our beautiful corner of Gloucestershire. I have lived in the Forest for over twenty years, and I have used and got to know so many of the fantastic business and business owners.
We have many outstanding restaurants and hospitality businesses across our area. Recently, I have particularly enjoyed visiting Severn & Wye Smokery and The Speech House Hotel, with colleagues and family. Both serve great food in a lovely atmosphere and would be perfect to celebrate a birthday or special occasion.
As many of you know, I have two rescue Labradors, Chase and Sophie, and enjoy walking them in the woods. I get their dog food and supplies at Knockley dog foods in Bream. When they are unwell or need a check-up, they go to Sundean Vets - Cinderford.
I work out of my office in Cinderford, and when I am working on cases and writing letters, I will often get lunch at Truly Scrumptious Café, or Kaplans if I am out and about around the constituency.
Businesses can come in many sizes, and we equally have a number of high quality and talented solo entrepreneurs and artisans that sell their products on stalls across our four market towns. Recently, I went up to take a look at the Picture House Gallery in Cinderford.
I can recommend it if you are looking for any bespoke Christmas presents. They have a Christmas market on for the next two weekends, 10:00am to 3:00pm.
This is just my story, and I know that all of you have your own stories of the brilliant local businesses you use and support day in and day out. To all those that run or work in a local business, I say thank you for making the Forest of Dean what it is.
To any local business owners, if you would like me to visit to learn more about what you do, or need my help with anything, please email me.
