It was a pleasure to unveil today a National Railway Heritage plaque to commemorate the reclamation of Tidenham Tunnel. This award is in recognition of years of hard and dedicated work carried out by Greenways and Cycleroutes Limited and the Friends of the Wye Valley Greenway.
Without Greenways and Cycleroutes Ltd’s engineering knowledge, fund raising and organisational skills and the devoted volunteers of the the Friends of the Wye Valley Greenway, none of this would have been possible.
I was honoured to have been asked to attend today and mark this very special occasion with the volunteers.
Projects like these are the epitome of the Government’s commitment to promoting walking and cycling across England. This really is an exemplar project of what can be achieved.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in this project. The opening of this tunnel, which can be used for cycling & walking, will bring such benefit and joy to communities on both sides of the Wye.
