Tomorrow, the Forest of Dean District Council will meet to vote on their budget and your council tax for 2024/25.
At the meeting, the proposals to dramatically increase car parking charges will be put to councillors to vote on.
Under the new proposals, every charge except for the first hour would go up by 100%. That compares to the latest rate of inflation of just 4.0%.
This is a disproportionate and ill-thought-out hike in the price of parking and will damage local businesses and hit residents in the pocket.
I met the Green Leader of the District Council recently to set out my opposition to this hike in charges.
The Conservative Group on the Forest of Dean District Council will be voting against the proposed hike in car parking charges.
