Last week, I attended the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester as both the Secretary of State for Transport and as your local Member of Parliament for the Forest of Dean. As the representative for our constituency, I spoke to campaigners from numerous charities who do valuable work in our area including Dementia UK, Versus Arthritis, and the British Heart Foundation.
Declining heart health, arthritis, dementia, and all other conditions that affect people as they age require support from professionals. But often, many providers of this specialist care come from charities.
It was a pleasure to meet the representatives of these teams who do so much good both in our area and around the country. I know that many of my constituents are grateful for the work that they do, and it was productive to discuss the plans these charities have for the future, and their ongoing initiatives to help tackle declining health amongst the elderly.
