I am pleased to report that Gigaclear have kicked off their ultrafast broadband rollout in Cinderford. You may have noticed crews at work over the last few weeks and the project will result in 12.5km of fibre being laid via trenching, as well as through making use of existing duct and pole infrastructure. I know this will be welcome news to residents and local businesses and I look forward to seeing the service go live over the next few months.
Cinderford’s existing broadband speeds are around 16Mbps, well below the national average of 50Mbps+ and Gigaclear say their network will provide speeds of up to 900Mbps to just under 5,500 homes and businesses across the town, once the build is completed.
I know how important good broadband is to my constituents and I am in regular touch with Gigaclear and will continue to follow their progress across the Forest of Dean with interest.
The first properties and businesses in Cinderford will be able to benefit from Gigaclear’s network in June. The entire build is scheduled for completion by Q2 2023. The company has also frozen its full-fibre broadband rates for 18 months, meaning both new and existing customers will not see a rise in prices until October 2023 at the earliest.
