Autumn Statement 2023

Earlier today, I was pleased to welcome the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement, which will reduce taxes, raise the national living wage for hard-working Britons, and grow our economy for years to come.

Delivering on our promise to halve inflation

New figures have shown that thanks to the actions of this Conservative Government we have halved inflation from its peak of 10.7 per cent at the start of the year to 4.6 per cent in October – giving families the immediate relief they need.

Wyedean Rally

I had a great day visiting the Wyedean Rally last Saturday 18th November. Despite the somewhat pessimistic weather forecast, we managed to stay relatively dry!

Dean Heritage Centre awarded £133,886

I am delighted to hear that the Dean Heritage Centre has been awarded £133,886 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to help build a new literary collection based on writers from the Forest of Dean.

£87.9 million boost to repair Gloucestershire roads

Much like elsewhere in the country, most people in the Forest of Dean travel by road, and potholes on those roads can cause misery for motorists, from expensive vehicle repairs to bumpy, slow and dangerous journeys.

Remembrance Sunday 2023

This morning I attended Cinderford's Remembrance Sunday parade and service.

This year is the 100th anniversary of Cinderford's War Memorial and it was a privilege to lay a wreath alongside veterans, the emergency services, cadets, youth groups and many more from across the community.

Visiting the Constituency Garden of Remembrance

This week I had the honour of planting the Forest of Dean’s cross at the Constituency Garden of Remembrance in the Houses of Parliament. The Garden contains a remembrance tribute representing each of the 650 constituencies across the United Kingdom.
