The Royal Wedding took place in May as Prince Harry and Megan Markle got married at Windsor Castle – and there was Forest of Dean representation on the day…
Amongst the well-wishers in Windsor were Newent Town Councillor, Cllr Eli Heathfield, and his mum, Tracy Heathfield. Eli and Tracy joined 2,600 invited guests in the grounds of the Castle to watch the ceremony on a giant screen. Eli was nominated to attend by his Town Council colleague, Cllr David Blick and the nomination was endorsed by the Lord Lieutentant of Gloucestershire, Dame Janet Trotter.
Also during May, I had a really productive visit to Lucozade Ribena Suntory (LRS) in Coleford on Friday and enjoyed meeting staff & answering their questions during my tour of the site. LRS is one of the biggest employers in my constituency and I have supported them throughout my time as Member of Parliament for the Forest of Dean.
I also visited the Gloucestershire County Council run Drop-in Centre at the Main Place in Coleford where I was pleased to join the town’s Mayor, Cllr Nick Penny, to answer questions from the group on a range of local and national issues.
The Coleford Drop-in Centre is one of six in the County with similar schemes operating in Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Gloucester, Stroud and Cirencester. They provide support, advice and guidance to vulnerable adults.
There is no charge for the service and it is available to all vulnerable adults who can access the service independently.
