It was a pleasure to spend time talking to Tina Coull, Chair of The Friends of Longhope Church when I was recently out knocking on doors in the village with local Cllr Phillip Robinson. Longhope Church is a beautiful grade 2 listed building and an important part of Longhope village life.
Tina informed me of the work of The Friends group and their Longhope Church Bell Tower Appeal. The Bell Tower needs urgent structural repairs. Until this work is completed, unfortunately the bells will remain silent. This urgent work will cost £165,000 and £65,000 has already been raised. The Friends of Longhope Church have led an impressive fundraising campaign, but more is needed.
Walk for the Longhope Tower Challenge – Saturday 26th March
The friends will be organising a 10 mile walk this weekend. Starting at Longhope Church, the route will take you past the Bell Towers at Mitcheldean and Huntley. If you would like to participate, it is suggested that you offer a donation of your choice or a sponsorship.
If you would like to take part in the walk, please contact Margaret Willis on: MargaretJWillis@thefroghouse.me.uk or Tel: 01452 830023
The Friends of Longhope Church have also set up a just giving page to help with their campaign.
