Today I visited Leeways Packaging Services Ltd at their Kalex Cinderford factory on the Forest Vale Industrial Estate. It was a pleasure to spend time with Adam, Tina and Anthony as they took me on a tour of the facilities and explained more about the business.
Founded in 1971 in Churcham, this British family-owned business is a major employer within the Forest of Dean. Employing over 150 staff, Leeways is a leading supplier of thermoformed plastic packaging in the UK. Each year, they produce 500 million tubs, trays and containers for many of the major high street brands.
Plastic is an incredibly important material, especially in packaging. It’s versatile, durable, lightweight and means that we can keep food fresher for longer and protect against damage and spoilage. Plastic packaging itself is not the problem, it is the dumping of it afterwards that is the issue. Leeways have invested millions of pounds in new machinery and are leading the way on sustainability. This investment can be seen in their cutting-edge technology that is producing many of their products from recycled plastic.
I greatly enjoyed my visit today to another fantastic Forest of Dean business. Leeways is a great company for anyone who is looking for work. Anyone interested in applying for a job with them, should contact the company via Facebook or their website.
