I was saddened to learn of the death, earlier today, of Jane Horne MBE.
Jane was a long-serving Forest of Dean District Councillor before she stepped down last May. She served as Chairman of the District Council.
I will remember her fondly as one of my strongest supporters since I moved to the Forest of Dean twenty years ago. She was a formidable campaigner on the doorstep, ably assisted by her late husband Donald.
Most importantly, she worked tirelessly on behalf of all those in the community she served. As well as her family and friends, she will be missed by many others.
I hope, once this current emergency situation is over, there will be an opportunity to remember her in an appropriate way.
