I have again met with representatives from the SAVE CANNOP PONDS group. The meeting held today follows on from one I had with the group in August to discuss the future of Cannop Ponds.
During my last meeting with the group, I agreed to look into a number of issues that were raised with me. One of the actions I agreed to take was to meet with Kevin Stannard, Deputy Surveyor of the Forest of Dean, and discuss the results of the recent inspection and Forestry England’s consultation.
This I did, and I was able to update the group on what was discussed. In my open letter to local residents of 23rd August 2022, I said that based on what I know, I can see no good reason for doing away with what is a much loved beauty spot. After visiting Cannop Ponds with Forestry England, my view remains the same.
