On Saturday I attended the Aylburton Carnival. The weather was lovely, and it was nice to see so many people out and enjoying the day. I attended the carnival with District and County Councillor, Alan Preest.
The carnival started with a procession through the village and then onto the field behind the memorial hall. There was a great variety of food and drink stalls on offer, some from excellent local producers, as well as lots of games and activities for people of all ages.
I tried my hand at several of the games, and after a long week in Westminster it was nice to be able to unwind back home in the Forest of Dean.
Alan and I talked to many of the groups managing stalls representing local organisations and charities. One such organisation was the Aylburton and Lydney Scout Group, and I am pictured here with some of the volunteers. It was nice to spend time with the Scouts. Forest of Dean District Scout Group do a fantastic job of providing invaluable experiences to children within the constituency.
If you, or someone you know, are interested in joining the Scouts, either as a participant or volunteer, then please see the link below.
I am also pictured here with the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) volunteers. It was a pleasure to talk to them about their ongoing rescue activities and what they have planned for the future. They are currently looking for new volunteers and if anyone is interested, then please visit their website. I have copied the link below.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the organisers of the carnival. Without their hard work over the last few months, this wonderful event would not have been possible.
